Women's tennis finishes spring break trip with 8-1 loss to Whittier

WHITTIER, Calif. ­­– The Salisbury University women's tennis team capped its spring break trip Thursday with an 8-1 loss to No. 30 Whittier College.

Salisbury (4-5) picked up its lone point from the No. 3 singles position, as junior Katie Youlios picked up a hard-fought 6-3, 1-6, 10-7 victory.

The Sea Gulls were competitive with their Whittier (5-6) counterparts in nearly every matchup. In the No. 1 spot, sophomore Natalie Savage dropped her match 6-4, 6-0, while No. 2 Roxanne Alban fell in her matchup by the same score.

Freshman Claudia Lohn took her opponent to the limit in the No. 5 spot but lost her match 6-4, 7-5.

The Sea Gulls will next be in action next Saturday, March 29 as they travel to York, Pa., to take on the Spartans. That match is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
