YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly tennis awards Tuesday and Salisbury University freshman Natalie Savage earned the distinction of Women's Player of the Week.
Savage picked up two victories during the week including a 6-3, 6-2 win against Christopher Newport University, ranked No. 14 in the Atlantic South region. With the two straight set wins, Savage improved to 16-1 overall and 8-0 at No. 1 singles.
Savage and sophomore Roxanne Alban collected two wins at No. 1 doubles, including an 8-2 victory against CNU, improving their record together to 6-0.
Salisbury clinched the No. 2 seed in the CAC Tournament Saturday with its 9-0 victory over St. Mary's College of Maryland.
The Sea Gulls return to action Friday, April 19 at the SU Tennis Courts when they battle Washington (Md.) College at 3 p.m.
