YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference released its weekly tennis awards on Tuesday and Salisbury University freshman Natalie Savage was named the women's Player of the Week to claim the first CAC award of her career.
Salisbury played just one match last week, an 8-1 victory against York (Pa. ) College, for the Gulls' first CAC win of the season. Savage teamed with senior Jillian Poppe for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles before playing the first No. 1 singles match of her career, claiming a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
Savage is 6-1 in singles play in 2013, having won six-straight matches and has also gone 6-1 in doubles, with Poppe.
Savage and the Sea Gulls are currently on a four-match spring break road trip through Texas. They play tonight at Austin College.
