Women's tennis falls in opening match of spring break

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team opened its annual spring break trip in California on Monday night, falling to Trinity (Conn.) College, 9-0.

Trinity took the three doubles match to open the contest, with Salisbury's pair of junior Elaina Iosue and freshman Allison Lutz collecting a pair of games in an 8-2 loss at No. 2. The junior-freshman pairs of Jillian Poppe-Roxanne Alban, at No. 1, and Victoria Handlin-Katie Youlios at No. 3, each fell 8-1.

Youlios played the closest match in singles play, falling 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 while Alban claimed three games in her No. 3 match; 6-1, 6-2.

The Sea Gulls will be back in action on Tuesday, March 20 as they take on No. 18 the University of the South at 1 p.m., eastern time.
