FREDERICK/STEVENSON, Md. – The Salisbury University men's and women's tennis teams had a travel-filled Saturday, playing matches at both Hood College and Stevenson University. It was worth the trip for the Sea Gulls, as both the men and women beat their Capital Athletic Conference opponents to add two wins to their 2011 seasons.
The men (12-5, 5-2 CAC) picked up their sixth shutout victory of the season; they retired Hood quickly, as all six singles matches went to just two sets before resulting in Sea Gull victories down the line. They also picked up a 7-2 victory against the Mustangs.
The women (12-2, 6-1 CAC) earned an 8-1 victory against Hood. Sophomore Elaina Iosue picked up her second-straight win at No. 1 singles against Hood, while freshman Charlotte Urian earned her second singles win as a Sea Gull with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6.
Salisbury's conference victories were pivotal in determining the seeds of the CAC Tournament, which is set to begin on April 17.
The Sea Gulls return home for matches against Elizabethtown College tomorrow (Sunday, April 10); the men and women are both set to begin at noon. Additionally, the men will host Haverford College for a match at 3:30 p.m.
