SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury University
women's tennis team dropped its first two dual matches of the 2007
season by identical scores, 5-4, to the hands of Virginia Wesleyan
College and New York University on Saturday at the SU Tennis
Complex.
The Sea Gulls (0-2) lost four of the six single matches to the
Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan College. No. 1 single Erika
Mitry lost a tough match to VWC's Imee Bautista by the
score of, 7-6 (5), 6-2. The lone SU single victories came from
freshmen Rachel Iosue and Kelly
Fahrner, who are both from Germantown, Md.
Salisbury fared better in the doubles matches as the Sea Gulls
took two of three. Anna Marie Kable and
Jackie Burr won the No. 2 doubles match 8-4 while
Iosue and Hannah Parsons won 8-1 in No. 3 doubles.
Salisbury will turn back around and host Eastern Shore rival
Washington College on Sunday, March 4, at 2 p.m.
