Salisbury earns No. 2 seed in CAC tournament

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The University of Mary Washington has owned the Capital Athletic Conference women's tennis tournament since it started in 1991. The Eagles won the first 10 championships before Salisbury University swept back-to-back titles in 2002 and 2003. This season, the top-seeded and nationally ranked Eagles aim for their fourth CAC title in a row.

Salisbury (11-7, 6-1 CAC) enters the 2007 CAC tournament as the No. 2 seed. The Sea Gulls will host No. 7 Gallaudet University on Tuesday, April 17. The match time has yet to be announced. The winner will move onto the semifinal round (Friday, April 20) and face the winner between No. 3 seed Catholic University and No. 6 St. Mary's (Md.) College. Salisbury defeated Gallaudet 9-0 on April 8 at home.

No. 10 Mary Washington (18-2, 6-0 CAC) received a first-round bye and will host the winner of No. 4 seed Goucher College vs. No. 5 seed York (Pa.) College on Friday, April 20.

The championship will be held on Saturday, April 22, at the home of the higher remaining seed.
