Sea Gull swim teams fall to York in CAC opener

YORK, Pa. – The Salisbury University men's and women's swimming teams traveled to York College of Pennsylvania for the first Capital Athletic Conference meet of the season on Saturday afternoon. The men fell, 113-89, while the women lost, 121-75.

Men

Peter Moyer claimed the first victory of the day for Salisbury (0-2, 0-1 CAC) in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.31.

The Sea Gulls then claimed the top three spots in the next event, the 50-yard freestyle. Josh BrownRichard Baker, and Andrew Ward all finished within 0.65 seconds of each other, as Brown placed first in a time of 22.00 seconds.

Baker won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.48 seconds and was followed up by Ward in second place with a time of 50.70 seconds.

The men concluded the meet with a first-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay, as Ward, Moyer, Baker, and Brown clocked a time of 3:17.29.

Women

Angela Barzanti secured Salisbury's (0-2, 0-1 CAC) first win of the afternoon on the women's side in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in a time of 5:57.70. Brie Clark and Shannon Mesmer followed up Barzanti with second and third-place finishes, respectively.

Autumn Allen won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:16.71 and teamed with Jordan DeGruchy, Mary Green, and Jordyn Rowe to place first in the 400-yard freestyle relay in the next event, finishing in a time of 4:10.48.

Both the Salisbury men's and women's swim teams return home for the first of three straight meets at the Maggs Natatorium on Saturday, November 3 against Frostburg State University at 1 p.m.
