Swim teams each earn first victories at Penn State-Altoona

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Salisbury University men's and women's swimming teams traveled to Penn State University-Altoona on Friday afternoon for their first road meet of the season. Each team came away with its first win of the season, with the men's team earning a 195-63 victory, and the women's team coming out on top, 193-59. Both teams combined for 27 first-place finishes from the 28 events that comprised the meet.

Men

Junior Peter Moyer had another strong afternoon, earning two individual first-place finishes. Moyer's first victory came in the 1,000-yard freestyle, with a time of 10:35.78. He also finished first in the 100-yard butterfly, recording a time of 55.67 seconds.

Sophomore Josh Brown also captured two first-place finishes. Brown's first victory came in the 200-yard freestyle, with a time of 1:54.73. He followed it up with a first-place time of 1:02.70 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Senior Conor Johnston was a multiple-event winner as well, finishing first in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 30.12 seconds, and the 100-yard freestyle, with a time of 52.80 seconds.

Junior Andrew Ward earned an individual victory in the 100-yard backstroke, with a time of 59.95 seconds, while freshman Jordan Welch recorded a first-place time of 27.93 seconds in the 50-yard backstroke.

Junior Matt Morris recorded a first-place time of 24.05 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and in the 500-yard freestyle, sophomore Jarrod Schwesinger recorded a first-place finish with a time of 5:18.43.

Junior Richard Baker earned a first-place victory in the 200-yard individual medley, with a time of 2:04.35.

The men's team also won both of its relay events. Keaton Burke, Kyle Russell, David Carins, and Dustin Berkey combined to finish first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:02.89. Stephen Arcidiacono, Ward, Brown, and Moyer combined to win the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:32.19.

Women

Freshman Jordyn Rowe led the women's team with two individual victories on the afternoon. Rowe's first win came in the 50-yard freestyle, with a time of 27.30 seconds. Her other victory was in the 50-yard butterfly, with a time of 30.39 seconds.

Sophomore Shelby Steere also won two events. Steere's first victory came in the 50-yard backstroke, earning a time of 30.28 seconds. She finished her afternoon with a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, with a time of 1:05.27.

Sophomore Emma Tarnosky earned an individual victory in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:27.60.

Senior Ali Johnston won the 50-yard breaststroke, capturing a time of 35.36 seconds with senior Paulina Kozorosky winning the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:27.44.

Sophomore Angela Barzanti won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:08.96, while in the 100-yard version of the race, sophomore Maddie Snow won with a time of 1:01.97.

Sophomore Olivia Edsall won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:45.05 and freshman Ellen Berry finished first in the 500-yard freestyle, earning a time of 5:46.12.

Sophomore Briya Cohen earned a first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:09.78.

The women's team won both of its relay events. Tarnosky, Johnston, Barzanti, and Rowe combined to finish first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:02.89. Johnston, Kozorosky, Rowe, and Snow combined to win the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:55.86.
