Senior Gulls lead the way as Sea Gulls falter at Marymount

ARLINGTON, VA. -  The Salisbury University men's and women's swimming teams competed against Marymount (Va.) University on Saturday afternoon, as the men lost 137-120, and the women were defeated 155-107.

Men

Senior Okan Eyigor had a big day for the Sea Gulls, notching three first-place finishes in the meet. Eyigor's first gold of the day came in the 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall at 57.07 seconds. The Istanbul, Turkey native also took first in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in a time of 2:07.83. Eyigor's final win of the day came in the 200-yard IM, recording a time of 2:04.18.
 
In the 1000-yard freestyle, sophomore Peter Moyer swam his way into first place, touching the wall at 10:32.64. Moyer shined again later for the Gulls in the 500-yard freestyle as he brought home another win, posting a time of 4:58.57.
  
Freshman Tyler Maggio also notched a first-place finish over the weekend as he touched the wall first in the 200-yard breast stroke, recording a time of 1:16.74.

Women 

The women's side was led by senior Victoria Radcliffe as she also finished the weekend with three victories. Radcliffe's first victory came in the 200-yard freestyle, recording a time of 1:58.98. The Ellicott City, Maryland native also touched the wall first again in the 100-yard freestyle, posting a time of 55.68 seconds. Radcliffe's final win of the weekend came during the 500-yard freestyle as she notched a time of 5:28.69, collecting 27 points for Salisbury on the day.

Radcliffe wouldn't stop there as her and fellow teammates Nikky Marders, Bizu Baldinazzo and Emma Tarnosky took first in the 400-yard freestyle relay, recording all nine points and posting a time of 3:55.36.
 
Baldinazzo also finished first in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 26.60 seconds.
 
Freshman Shelby Steere also shined for the Gulls as she touched the wall first in the 200-yard back stroke, notching a time of 2:20.03.
  
Salisbury will be back in action Thursday, January 19 as they travel to the University of Mary Washington for another Capital Athletic Conference showdown. The meet is set to begin at 4 p.m.
