Hometown: Laurel, Md.

Jim Nestor was named head coach of the women's soccer program prior to the start of the 2001 season and has guided Salisbury to a 93-51-20 record in his nine seasons at the helm of the Sea Gulls. His resume at Salisbury includes five trips to the CAC championship game, including, the 2006 CAC title and a berth in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament.

2009 was a fantastic season for Nestor and his Sea Gulls as they posted a 10-3-3 record. Five Sea Gulls were named to All-CAC teams.

The 2007 season, which was Nestor's seventh at the helm, proved to be SU's best season since 2001. Along the way to an impressive 14-4-1 record, Nestor guided the Sea Gulls to a nine-game unbeaten streak. This eventually propelled the maroon and gold to a No. 1 seed in the CAC tournament, where they were dethroned by York in the CAC title game. SU received a Pool C bid into the NCAA tournament as the Sea Gulls made their second trip to the NCAA tournament during the Nestor era (third overall for SU). The team posted nine shutouts on the year, five against CAC foes. In 2007, Nestor saw his first CAC Player of the Year in senior forward Kate Weaver. The team also had two other All-CAC performers in senior Robyn Bishop and sophomore Hillary Grove. Junior goalkeeper Gena Goodson was named to the second team.

Nestor has coached 30 All-CAC recipients in his tenure at SU. There were 12 members of Nestor's squad that were on the 2007-08 CAC All-Academic Team. Weaver was named to the Academic All-America First Team.

Nestor got the Sea Gulls back on track in the 2006 season as they claimed the CAC title a year after suffering the program's first losing season. He was named CAC Coach of the Year in 2006 while leading Salisbury to wins in four of the team's final five regular season games and three consecutive shutouts in the CAC tournament. The Sea Gulls ranked among the conference's best statistically as they had the No. 1-ranked scoring offense and No. 2-ranked defense. The NCAA tournament berth was the program's second overall and first under the tutelage of Nestor.

Other highlights during Nestor's tenure include a team record of nine consecutive shutouts in both 2001 and again in 2004, unbeaten streaks of both nine and 10-games, and 21 players named to the all-conference team.

Nestor inherited a Sea Gull soccer program that has known nothing but success since moving to varsity status in 1994. In nine years, his overall record at SU is 93-51-20 (.618). The Sea Gulls enjoyed their most successful season ever in 2000, registering a record-setting 20-1-2 season that included their second conference championship and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament's final eight. Salisbury recorded an NCAA-best 22-game unbeaten streak and was the last undefeated team in the nation that season.

Salisbury has had 15 winning season in its 16-year history and recorded double-digit win totals in 12 of those seasons. The Sea Gulls have had 72 players earn all-conference recognition since 1994 and has a stellar 185-76-22 all-time record in their 15 varsity campaigns.

In addition to his duties with the women's soccer program, Nestor is also the head coach of the women's lacrosse team. He has led the lacrosse team to six consecutive conference titles and NCAA appearances and most notable a trip to the 2005, 2007 and 2008 National Championship game.

Nestor, a 1990 graduate of the University, returned to his Alma Mater after serving as the head coach for women's lacrosse and women's soccer at Division II Gannon University in Erie, PA, from 1995 to 2001. He posted a 49-44 record in five seasons of guiding the Gannon women's soccer program. Nestor brought with him 10 years of coaching experience to Salisbury, including stints at Frostburg State (1991-92), Colby-Sawyer (NH) (1992-94) and Lafayette (PA) (1994). In 13 seasons of coaching women's soccer at Gannon and Salisbury, Coach Nestor has an overall record of 132-92-17 (.583).

Originally from Laurel, MD, Nestor received his bachelor's degree in physical education from Salisbury in 1990. He was a four-year letterman on the Sea Gull lacrosse and wrestling teams during his collegiate career. Nestor earned his master's degree in health and physical education at Frostburg State in 1992. His wife, Linda, is also a Salisbury graduate.
