FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference released its 2018 women's soccer coach's poll on Wednesday morning and Salisbury University was voted to finish second overall with 41 points.
Christopher Newport University, which won the conference championship in 2017, was selected to finish at the top once again, garnering 49 total points and a maximum possible seven first-place votes (coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team).
The runners-up from last season, Frostburg State University, received the third highest vote total of 37 points, (including the final first place tally). St. Mary's College of Maryland placed right behind the Bobcats with 30 points.
Spots five through eight went to the University of Mary Washington (28 points), York College of Pennsylvania (18 points), Penn State University-Harrisburg (12 points), and Southern Virginia University (9 points).
The Sea Gulls will open their season this Friday, August 31 when they host the Spirits of Salem College in the Annual Salisbury University Classic and Sea Gull Soccer Stadium. The contest is set to begin at 2 p.m.
