YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly women's soccer awards on Monday, and sophomore Alex Pryor and senior Tabitha Brown of the Salisbury University women's soccer team swept the conference awards, earning offensive and defensive player of the week honors, respectively.
Pryor and Brown led the Sea Gulls to a 1-0 week, helping the team take down Catholic University of America, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon.
Pryor was the difference maker for Salisbury's offense in its win over Catholic on Saturday. The Sparrows Point, Maryland native came through with two assists on the afternoon, including a helper on the game-winning goal that senior Christine Clark headed into the back of the net to give Salisbury a 2-1 lead.
Brown was one of the main contributors on the defensive side of the ball in the win over the Cardinals. The senior defender was the anchor of the back line on Saturday, leading a defense that allowed just one goal from Catholic, which is averaging four scores per game on the year.
The Sea Gulls will travel to take on Stevenson University tomorrow, Tuesday, September 22, in a non-conference matchup. That game is set for 7 p.m.
