SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University field hockey and women's soccer teams will do their part to help in the fight against breast cancer this Saturday. Each team will hold a "pink" event with the field hockey team holding its second annual "Corners for Cancer" game.
Maroon and gold may be Salisbury's official colors, but fans are encouraged to wear pink on Saturday afternoon at Sea Gull Stadium and the SU Soccer Complex. The Salisbury field hockey team will be sporting pink uniforms to show their support for the cause. Tickets for giveaways will be distributed at the gate, which open at 12:45 p.m. Leading up to the game Salisbury will also be collecting pledges for corners, where fans will be able to pledge a set amount for each penalty corner opportunity the Sea Gulls earn in the contest. Individuals interested in pledging may do so by contacting Head Coach Dawn Chamberlin.
The women's soccer team will be passing out information about breast cancer, and what can be done to detect the disease, as fans enter the soccer complex on Saturday. The team will be selling pink ribbons for each donation of $1.
Each team will be celebrating its seniors on one of their final home games of the year. The women's soccer team will take on St. Mary's (Md.) College, beginning at 1 p.m., while the field hockey team will battle Frostburg State University in Sea Gull Stadium at 2 p.m.
