Mooney named CAC women's soccer Co-Player of the Week
YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly conference Player of the Week awards and Salisbury University freshman defender Erin Mooney (Solomons, Md.) was named the women's soccer co-recipient for the week of Oct. 19. Mooney shares the award with Stevenson University's Stephanie Eyler.
Mooney had a strong week for the Sea Gulls, as
she contributed to two CAC victories against Marymount (Va.)
University and Hood College. In the 3-1 victory against Marymount,
Mooney recorded her first collegiate goal in the game's 43rd
minute; she would find the back of the net once more in the 72nd
minute for a late insurance goal for the Sea Gulls. In Saturday's
2-0 defeat of Hood, Mooney scored the game-winning goal off an
assist from senior forward Christina Eury
(Germantown, Md.) in the 60th minute. Mooney
finished the week with three goals and limited the opposing
offenses to just one goal. This is the first CAC Player of the Week
award the women's soccer program has earned this fall.
The Sea Gulls will be in action again on Thursday, Oct. 22, as they
host CAC opponent Gallaudet University. Game time is set for 4
p.m.
