Salter, Eury selected to NSCAA Scholar All-East Region Teams
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America released its 2008 NSCAA/Adidas College Women Scholar All-East Region Teams and the Salisbury University women's soccer team had two players distinguished. Senior defender Kelli Salter was named to the third team while junior midfielder Christina Eury collected honorable mention laurels. This is the first time either player has received this honor.
The two Sea Gulls were among seven women from the Capital Athletic Conference to be selected. St. Mary's College had three players named and Wesley College was honored with two recipients.
Salter is a marketing major who sports a 3.74 grade point average. The 2008 All-Capital Athletic Conference first team performer was a mainstay in the backfield for SU as she was one of two Sea Gulls to start in all 17 games this season. In Salisbury's double-overtime victory against York (Pa.) College on September 27 she tallied her only assist of the season on a perfectly executed corner kick. The Marlton, N.J., product notched the first goal of her career in a 3-1 loss to Richard Stockton on October 8. In her four-year career at Salisbury, she started in 55 games and led SU to an overall record of 38-25-8.
Eury is a biology major and holds a 3.66 grade point average. The Germantown, Md., native helped lead SU to the No. 1 seed in the CAC tournament and a berth into the CAC semifinals. Eury led the Sea Gulls with two game-winning goals and was among the team leaders in goals (two) and points (four).
