Jessilonis garners CAC Player of the Week honor

YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly conference player of the week awards and Salisbury University freshman midfielder Sarah Jessilonis (Pasadena, Md.) was named the women's soccer recipient for the week of September 29.

In Salisbury's only game of the week, Jessilonis tallied the game-winning goal in double overtime as the Sea Gulls defeated York (Pa.) College, 1-0. The freshman deflected a Kelli Salter corner kick off of her knee, into the bottom left corner of the net, with 42 seconds left in the second overtime period. Last season, the maroon and gold were defeated by the Spartans in the CAC championship game.

This is Jessilonis' first time receiving CAC Player of the Week. She is the second Sea Gull to distinguish this honor this season. Senior goalkeeper Gena Goodson has been honored twice thus far (September 8 and September 22).

Salisbury will hit the road to face a tough in-region team on Wednesday, October 1, as the Sea Gulls will travel to Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Va., for a 6 p.m. contest.
