Goodson earns second CAC Player of the Week award

YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly conference player of the week awards and Salisbury University senior goalkeeper Gena Goodson was named the women's soccer co-recipient for the week of September 22. This is the second time she has received this honor in the past three weeks.

The senior shares the award with Stevenson University senior goalie Brittany Ross. The two goalies went toe-to-toe in the scoreless double overtime game last weekend at the SU Soccer Complex. Ross made five saves in the 0-0 tie.

Goodson recorded two shutouts last week against Wesley College and Stevenson University. The Lexington Park, Md., native made three saves against the Mustangs. She has scoreless streak of 223 minutes. In eight appearances this season, she ranks third in the CAC with a 0.58 goals against average.

Salisbury has a week to gear up for next Saturday's home contest against York (Pa.) College, the defending CAC champions. Last season, the Spartans won the conference title on Salisbury's field as the top-seed Sea Gulls lost 2-0. The game is slated to begin at 12:30 p.m.
