YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference
announced its weekly conference player of the week awards and
Salisbury University senior goalkeeper Gina Goodson
(Lexington Park, Md.) was named women's soccer co-player
of week for September 8.
Goodson shares the honor with Stevenson University freshman
forward Stephanie Eyler, who tallied 14 points, two game-winning
goals in both of the Mustangs' two victories last week.
Goodson had an outstanding weekend at the Shellenberger Classic,
hosted by Lynchburg College, where she helped SU earn a 1-0-1
record. In the opening game, the senior notched her first shutout
of the season with in a 1-0 victory over the Quakers of Guilford
College. She tallied four saves in the win. On Sunday, the senior
registered a career-high 11 saves in 110 minutes against No. 6
Lynchburg. The Sea Gulls went on to tie LC after two periods of
scoreless overtime play where Goodson made four saves against five
shots faced.
Salisbury returns to action on Wednesday, September 10, when the
Sea Gulls travel back to Virginia to face the Marlins of Virginia
Wesleyan College at 7 p.m. Last season, the two teams played to a
1-1 double overtime tie on September 12 in Salisbury, Md.
