KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The
postseason accolades keep piling up for Salisbury University
women's soccer star Kate Weaver. The senior
forward was recently named to the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA) Women's College Scholar All-East
region as an honorable mention selection. This award is comprised
of Division I, II and III student-athletes.
This is the second national academic award for Weaver this
school year as she was selected to the 2007 ESPN The
Magazine Academic All-America Women's Soccer First Team, as
selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America
(CoSIDA), back on November 29. She became the 14th Sea Gull to earn
Academic All-America honors in the College Division since 2001.
The Abingdon, Md., native holds a 4.0 grade point average and is
a math major. She is one of three student-athletes out of 124
selections to the All-East region to hold a 4.0 cumulative grade
point average.
Weaver, the CAC Women's Soccer Player of the Year and a two-time
All-CAC first team selection, led the team in nearly all offensive
categories including goals (11), assists (eight), points (30),
shots (63), shots on goal (43) and game-winning goals (five). The
Sea Gulls went 14-4-1 in 2007 with a return trip to the NCAA
Division III tournament.
For her career she ranks third all-time in goals (36), fourth
all-time in assists (17) and is tied for second all-time in points
(89).
