Sea Gulls No. 1 seed for CAC tournament

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.- The Salisbury University women's soccer team earned the No. 1 seed in the 2007 Capital Athletic Conference tournament and will face Marymount (Va.) on Sunday, October 28. Game time is 1 p.m. at the SU Soccer Complex.

Salisbury (12-2-1, 7-1 CAC), the reigning CAC tournament champions, cruised through all three playoffs games last year as they defeated their opponents by a combined score of 7-0. The Sea Gulls have won three CAC titles (1994, 2000, 2006) in the program's history.

This is the second consecutive year that Salisbury will open the tournament against the Saints (6-9-1, 1-6-1 CAC). In last year's quarterfinal matchup the Sea Gulls won 1-0.

The maroon and gold beat Marymount 2-0 earlier this year and have won all 18 games in the program's series.

York (Pa.) College earned the No. 2 seed and they will host No. 7 seed Villa Julie College while No. 3 seed University of Mary Washington will host No. 6 seed Hood College. The winner of the Salisbury-Marymount game will take on the winner between No. 4 seed St. Mary's (Md.) College and No. 5 seed Wesley College.

All quarterfinal games are scheduled to be played on Sunday, October 28. The semifinals will take place on Wednesday, October 31 with the championship on Saturday, November 3.
