SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury University
women's soccer team ended a three-game losing skid Wednesday
afternoon with a solid 5-0 victory over the College of Notre Dame
Gators at the SU Soccer Complex.
The Sea Gulls controlled the game from the get go as they scored
their first goal in the ninth minute of the game as junior
Kate Weaver took a feed from junior
Christina Eury to net her fourth goal of the
season.
Junior Erin Casey scored her second goal of the
season in the 43rd minute (unassisted) to give the Sea Gulls a 2-0
halftime advantage.
In the second half, Weaver added her second goal of the game at
the 57th minute, off an assist from sophomore Dana
Passucci, to give the Sea Gulls a 3-0 lead. Junior
Robyn Bishop and freshman Ally
Olewine scored the final two goals, both unassisted, at
the 66th and 84th minutes, respectively.
Salisbury finished the game with 14 shots (nine on goal) to the
Gators' three shots. The Sea Gulls also held the advantage in
corner kicks, 4-2.
Samantha Phipps recorded her second win of the
season making one save in the process.
The Sea Gulls will return to action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday,
September 26, as they travel to Washington, D.C. to face Gallaudet
University in a Capital Athletic Conference game.
