1996 Season Recap
With only two years of varsity experience behind its back, the 1996 Salisbury University women's soccer team put together an astounding 17-3 record. The women had seven players named to the All-Capital Athletic Conferece squad, two of which were also named to the All-Mid-Atlantic Region team. The team was undefeated at home and also posted winning streaks of six and 11 games.
SU began the year with a 1-0 victory over Western Maryland before taking home a thrilling 4-2 overtime win over Maryville. The Sea Gulls would then win four more games before losing a pair of games in late September. Salisbury would rebound with 11 consecutive wins, two of which were in the CAC tournament. In the CAC Championship, the women squared off with a tough Mary Washington squad that defeated the Sea Gulls, 2-0.
Salisbury was led on the year by senior back Ava Tasker and senior goalkeepr Kristi Kauffman, who both were named to the All-CAC first team and All-Mid-Atlantic second team. Junior forward Danielle Urbana and senior back Nicole Urban rounded out the four Sea Gulls on the All-CAC first team. Junior forward Patty Jones, senior midfielder Erin Sargent and freshman back Amy Gallagher were all named to the All-CAC second team.
