1995 Season Recap
Fresh off it s groundbreaking year of intercollegiate varsity competition, the 1995 Salisbury University women's soccer team put together another outstanding season. SU had five members collect All-Capital Athletic Conference honors, two of which were also named to the NSCAA All-South Region squad.
The team opened up the year with three consecutive wins as the Sea Gulls outscored their opponents 9-1 in that span. SU would trade wins over its next few contests before winning two in a row against North Carolina Wesleyan and St. Mary's. SU dropped its next two contests before winning its final four games of the regular season to claim a spot into the Capital Athletic Conference tournament. SU won it's semifinal game over St. Mary's before falling to Mary Washington in the CAC final. SU finished the year with an 11-5 record (3-1 CAC). The team was 6-2 at home and 5-3 on the road while collecting seven total shutouts.
The team was led by sophomore forward Danielle Urban, who was one of four players to be named to the All-CAC first team. Senior midfielder Nicole Urban, senior back Karen Mannion, and junior goalkeeper Kristi Kauffman also were named to the All-CAC first team. SU had one player honored on the All-CAC second team in senior back Mandy Brooks. Mannion was also named to the NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region first team while Kauffman was given third team laurels.
