Salisbury selected to defend title in CAC women’s lacrosse preseason coaches’ poll

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Salisbury University women's lacrosse team was picked to finish first in the Capital Athletic Conference this season, according to the CAC preseason coaches' poll released on Thursday.

The Sea Gulls received six first-place votes and 36 points to land atop the poll.

York College of Pennsylvania came in second with 30 points, while the University of Mary Washington landed in third with 27 points and the final first-place vote. Christopher Newport University tallied 21 points and St. Mary's College of Maryland 16 points to round out the top five.

Salisbury defeated Mary Washington 12-7 in last season's CAC championship game to capture its 16th straight conference title.

The Sea Gulls open their 2019 season on Saturday, February 16, hosting Stevenson University at 1 p.m. at Sea Gull Stadium.
