Women’s lacrosse moves up to No. 2 in final regular season IWLCA poll

GRAND LAKE, Colo. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association released the Division III Coaches Poll on Monday afternoon and Salisbury University moved up one spot to No. 2 in the final regular season poll.

The Sea Gulls received 596 points and one first-place vote to jump from No. 3 to No. 2 after winning the 18th Capital Athletic Conference title in program history. Salisbury defeated Christopher Newport University 18-9 in the semifinals before topping then-No. 8 University of Mary Washington 12-7 in the championship game.

The College of New Jersey remained at No. 1, garnering 24 first-place votes and 623 total points. Gettysburg College moved up one spot to No. 3 with 575 points, while Middlebury College leaped two spots to No. 4 with 552 points. Mary Washington climbed three spots to round out the top-five, receiving 498 points.

York College of Pennsylvania swapped spots with Mary Washington, falling to No. 8 with 451 points.

Salisbury will begin the NCAA tournament on Sunday, May 13 in the second round at 1 p.m. The Sea Gulls will play the winner of the first-round game between Meredith College and United States Merchant Marine Academy, which will be held at Sea Gull Stadium on Saturday, May 12 at 1 p.m.
