FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly women's lacrosse awards on Monday and Salisbury University sophomore midfielder Emily McQuay was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
McQuay caused three turnovers in a stifling defensive effort by Salisbury in an 18-6 win over Christopher Newport University. McQuay and the Sea Gulls held the Captains to their second-lowest scoring output of the year while limiting them to a season-low 13 shots. The sophomore also picked up one groundball and came up with one draw control in the victory.
McQuay and the top-ranked Sea Gulls are back in action on Saturday, April 14 against No. 10 University of Mary Washington at 1 p.m.
