INDIANAPOLIS - The field of 40 teams has been set for the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament, and the No. 11 Salisbury Univeristy women's lacrosse team will travel to Clinton, New York for a first-round contest on the opening weekend. Salisbury and Regis (Mass.) College will compete in the first round of the tournament Saturday, May 13 at Hamilton College, where the winner will play the host the following day Sunday, May 14 in the second round.
The Sea Gulls (13-5) earned an automatic bid into the tournament after earning its 17th overall, and 15th consecutive, Capital Athletic Conference title by defeating the York College of Pennsylvania, 7-2, on Saturday, April 29.
Salisbury, which is appearing in its 17th NCAA tournament, is looking to advance to the championship weekend for the 12th time in program history.
Regis enters the postseason after earning its fifth consecutive New England Collegiate Conference title, defeating Elms College, 15-13, on May 6. This NCAA first round contest will be the first ever showdown between the Lions and the Sea Gulls. The time of the opening-round game is still to be determined.
