Women’s lacrosse remains at 3/4 in both national polls

SALISBURY, Md. – After capturing another undefeated week and winning its ninth-straight game, the Salisbury University women's lacrosse team remains No. 3 in the Lacrosse Magazine ranking and No. 4 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll, the organizations announced Monday.

The Sea Gulls started the week with a 13-6 win over then-ranked No. 15 Christopher Newport University, led by four goals from junior Gabbi Nieves. Salisbury finished the week with a 10-3 win over then-ranked No. 14 St. Mary's College of Maryland. Sophomore goalkeeper Gianna Falcone finished the game with nine saves in front of the net.

In the IWLCA poll, the top-five teams remained the same from last week, with the State University of New York at Cortland, Middlebury College, and the College of New Jersey taking the first three spots. Salisbury and Franklin & Marshall College round out the top five, while St. Mary's, the University of Mary Washington, Christopher Newport, and York College of Pennsylvania took the No. 13-17 spots, respectively.

The top five also stayed the same in the Lacrosse Magazine ranking, as SUNY Cortland, Middlebury, and Salisbury held on as the top-three teams in the nation. Franklin & Marshall and TCNJ stayed at fourth and fifth place, respectively.

The Gulls will be in action on Wednesday, April 13, when they take on Wesley College at Sea Gull Stadium. That game is set for 4 p.m.
