YORK, Pa. – For the first time this season, sophomore goalkeeper Gianna Falcone of the Salisbury University women's lacrosse team was named the Capital Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

Falcone put on a stellar performance in front of the net for the Sea Gulls in the 9-5 victory over Stevenson University.

The Florham Park, New Jersey native tallied eight saves in just over 55 minutes in goal to earn her first win of 2016. Falcone also picked up three groundballs in the win.

Salisbury is set to take on Roanoke College in its season opener today, Tuesday, February 23, in a non-conference matchup. The game is slated for 3 p.m.
