SALISBURY, Md. - After a 2-0 week, the Salisbury University women's lacrosse team received its latest rankings in by Lacrosse Magazine and the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association, the organizations announced Monday, and SU held strong at No. 5 and 6, respectively.
The Sea Gulls (9-2, 5-0 CAC) had an impressive week defeating Wesley College, 19-2, on April 1 and Frostburg State University on Saturday, 17-2. Senior Kate Haker paced the Salisbury scoring against the Bobcats with four goals and three assists, while senior Kara O'Rourke dished out four assists and added a goal. Freshman Sammi Quilter had a career day against Wesley, posting game highs of four goals, four assists and eight points helping lead the Gulls to their victory.
Salisbury remains at the No. 5 spot in the Lacrosse Magazine ranking this week and at No. 6 in the IWLCA poll after receiving 306 points.
Joining the Sea Gulls from the Capital Athletic Conference is York College of Pennsylvania at No. 17 and St. Mary's College of Maryland at No. 19 in the Lacrosse Magazine ranking. In the IWLCA poll, the Spartans remain at No. 15 after receiving 98 points this week, while the Seahawks are receiving votes.
The women take on Christopher Newport University at Sea Gull Stadium on Tuesday, April 7. First draw is set for 5 p.m.
