YORK, Pa. - For the first time in her college career, junior attacker Megan Wallenhorst of the No. 6 Salisbury University women's lacrosse team was announced as Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week by the Capital Athletic Conference.
Wallenhorst helped capture an 8-7 victory over then-No.1 Franklin & Marshall University on March 25, when she scored the final goal with less than five minutes remaining to take the lead. She had game highs in goals and points with three and four, respectively, while playing the Diplomats.
After the exciting victory over the top team in the country, she had a definite presence in the 16-3 triumph over the University of Mary Washington, finishing a career-high six goals and an assist for seven points on Saturday. With her guidance in the 2-0 week, the Sea Gulls jumped four spots in both the Lacrosse Magazine ranking and the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll.
Wallenhorst and the Gulls will head up the road to take on Wesley College Wednesday, April 1 for their next matchup; start time set for 4 p.m.
