Falcone earns first career CAC Defensive Player of the Week

YORK, Pa. – Making her first collegiate start this past weekend against then-No. 12 York College of Pennsylvania and recording the victory, freshman goalkeeper Gianna Falcone of the No. 14 Salisbury University women's lacrosse team earned Capital Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Falcone tended the net for the full 60 minutes against the Spartans, turning away a career-high 11 shots to guide the Sea Gulls to their second victory of the season. After SU got on the board first off a Hannah Young finish, the freshman made three saves to keep York off the board through the opening 10 minutes.

Facing five free-position shots on target, the Florham Park, New Jersey native turned away three of the one-on-one opportunities.

Falcone and the Sea Gulls take the field on Tuesday, March 17 for their next contest, taking on the State University of New York at Brockport at Sea Gull Stadium. First draw is set for 2 p.m.
