SALISBURY, Md. – The first regular-season rankings were released Monday afternoon by Lacrosse Magazine and the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association, and the Salisbury University women's lacrosse team landed in the top eight in both polls.
The Sea Gulls went 1-1 this past week, making a program-record comeback against then-No. 18 Stevenson University in double overtime before falling at Catholic University of America on Saturday, 13-12, in overtime.
In the Lacrosse Magazine ranking, Salisbury comes in at No. 6, while landing No. 8 in the IWLCA poll, receiving 254 points.
Also representing the Capital Athletic Conference in the rankings this week is York College of Pennsylvania. The Spartans fall in at No. 13 in IWLCA's poll and No. 17 in Lacrosse Magazine.
Moving into the top spot in both polls is Amherst College, with a 1-0 record, which defeated Bates College, 14-6. Still having yet to take the field in the 2015 campaign, the State University of New York at Cortland comes in at No. 2 in both rankings, while receiving the most first-place votes, with eight, in the IWLCA poll.
The Sea Gulls head on the road for a two-game series this weekend with the first stop at No. 14 Washington and Lee University on Saturday, March 7 for a 1 p.m., first draw. Salisbury will then travel to Roanoke College on Sunday for a 2 p.m., start.
