Gulls open 2015 campaign as top team in country

BALTIMORE – With the season just around the corner, the three-time national champion Salisbury University women's lacrosse team will aim for a three-peat as the No. 1 team in the country entering the 2015 campaign, according to Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Women's Division III Preseason Top 20.

Returning senior All-Americans Bethany Baer and Laura Maskell and a plethora of other experienced players, Head Coach Jim Nestor and the Sea Gulls will look to contend for their fourth national title in six years. Recording 23 victories last season and dropping just one game, Salisbury has posted 20+ win seasons three-consecutive years and seven in the past eight years.

Through the preseason ranking, SU is scheduled to compete against six top-20 teams headlined by No. 4 State University of New Year at Cortland, No. 6 The College of New Jersey and No. 8 Franklin and Marshall College.

The road to a three-peat begins on February 21, as Salisbury faces off against Stevenson University at Sea Gull Stadium. The Gulls haven't dropped a game to the Mustangs, sporting a 21-0 all-time record. First draw is set for 3 p.m.
