BALTIMORE – In the final Lacrosse Magazine ranking, the Salisbury University women's lacrosse team finds itself back at No. 1 at the conclusion of the 2014 season, the organization announced Wednesday.
The Sea Gulls (23-1) knocked off No. 2 Trinity (Conn.) College for the second-consecutive year in the national championship game. The Bantams advanced to the title game after defeating the No. 3 State University of New York at Cortland for the third year in a row in the national semifinals. Salisbury advanced to the championship after defeating No. 4 Amherst College in the round of four. Rounding out the top five is The College of New Jersey, who fell to the Lord Jeffs in the regional finals.
Of the 24 games the Gulls played this season, half of them were against top-20 teams in the final ranking, with Salisbury winning 11-of-12.
The Capital Athletic Conference claimed two spots in the top 20 for 2014, as York College of Pennsylvania ranked 12th with a 15-5 record and a trip to the regional semifinals.
