BALTIMORE – The Salisbury University women's lacrosse team went 3-0 this past week, recording two conference victories and downing another top-five ranked team to remain atop the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll and Lacrosse Magazine ranking, the organizations announced Monday.
The Sea Gulls claimed 280 first-place points in the IWLCA poll to remain at No. 1 since the preseason poll release seven weeks ago. The State University of New York at Cortland follows at No. 2 with 100 first-place points, while Amherst College records the final 20 first-place points to sit third. After a loss to Salisbury on Saturday, The College of New Jersey remains at No. 4, while Gettysburg College caps off the top five.
In the Lacrosse Magazine ranking, Salisbury is followed by Cortland and Amherst, who are the only other two teams in the top 20 with undefeated records. Wrapping up the top five is TCNJ and Gettysburg, respectively, with one lose apiece.
The women are back in action on Wednesday, as Salisbury welcomes Marymount (Va.) University to Sea Gull Stadium for the final home regular-season and conference game. First draw is set for 4 p.m.
