YORK, Pa. – The No. 1 Salisbury University women's lacrosse team earned its fifth Capital Athletic Conference player of the week honor, as senior Shannon Carta was awarded Women's Lacrosse Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the organization announced Monday.
Carta recorded a team-high eight points this past week, finding the back of the net four times and adding four assists through two games. Against then-No. 12 Colby College, the senior posted a game-high four points on three goals and an assist to pace the Sea Gull offense. After the Mules went on a four-goal run late in the game to draw within one goal, Carta secured the 9-7 victory on a free-position goal with 3:52 remaining.
Against conference-foe University of Mary Washington, the Annapolis, Md., native tallied an unassisted goal and a game-high three assists in the 13-6 win.
The women are back in action on Wednesday, April 2, as SU takes on Wesley College in conference play. First draw is set for 4 p.m., at Sea Gull Stadium.
