BALTIMORE – After going 2-0 this past week, the Salisbury University women's lacrosse team remains No. 1 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll and Lacrosse Magazine ranking, the organizations announced Monday.
The Sea Gulls are the first team in the country to hit the double-digit mark in victories, as they sit with a 10-0 record for the season. SU defeated then-No. 12 Colby College on Wednesday last week, 9-7, and added its second Capital Athletic Conference victory against University of Mary Washington on Saturday, 13-6.
In the IWLCA poll, Salisbury received 280 first-place points, while the State University of New York at Cortland earned 100 points to remain at No. 2 with a 7-0 record. Amherst College made its way into the top three, receiving the last 30 first-place points. The College of New Jersey and Middlebury College round out the top five, respectively, as TCNJ remains undefeated with an 8-0 record and Middlebury with a 7-1 tally.
The Lacrosse Magazine ranking is identical for the top three. The only difference in the top five is Middlebury jumped TCNJ for the No. 4 spot.
The women are back in action on Wednesday, April 2, as Salisbury welcomes Wesley College to Sea Gull Stadium for a conference-tilt. First draw is set for 4 p.m.
