8-0 record keeps Sea Gulls atop polls
BALTIMORE – The Salisbury University women's lacrosse team went 3-0 this past week, defeating two ranked opponents to remain No. 1 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll and the Lacrosse Magazine rankings, the organizations announced Monday.
The Sea Gulls (8-0) posted victories over then-No. 6 Trinity (Conn.) College, Southern Virginia University and No. 4 Franklin & Marshall College to remain undefeated and extend their winning streak to 31.
In the IWLCA poll, SU received 360 first-place points, while No. 2 State University of New York at Cortland claimed the other 40 points from first-place votes. Middlebury College came in at No. 3 this week, as Franklin & Marshall held the fourth spot after the loss to the Gulls on Sunday. Entering into the top five this week is The College of New Jersey with a 6-0 record.
The top-three teams in the IWLCA poll are the same for the Lacrosse Magazine ranking. The only difference between the polls within the top five is TCNJ jumping F&M for the four spot.
The women take the field on Wednesday, March 26, against No. 12 Colby College for their next game. First draw is set for 4 p.m., at Sea Gull Stadium.
