BALTIMORE – The Salisbury University women's lacrosse team continues to reign the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll and Lacrosse Magazine ranking, the organizations announced Monday, after defeating then-No. 9 York College of Pennsylvania Saturday, 10-3.
The No. 1 Sea Gulls moved their record to 5-0 for the season with a victory over the Spartans this past week. SU fell behind early giving up two goals, but rallied for seven straight to pull away with the win. York dropped in the rankings to No. 15 in Lacrosse Magazine and No. 10 in the IWLCA poll.
The top five in both polls are identical, as Gettysburg College enters in at No. 5. Salisbury received 360 points from first-place votes in the IWLCA poll, while the State University of New York at Cortland moves up to No. 2, obtaining the final 40 first-place points. Middlebury College holds onto the third spot, and Franklin & Marshall College moves up a spot from last week's poll to No. 4.
The women now travel to Clermont, Fla., for their next game, as the Sea Gulls will meet up for a rematch of the past two national championship games against No. 6 Trinity (Conn.) College. The Bantams recorded their first loss of the season on Saturday against then-unranked Bates College. First draw is set for 9 a.m., at the National Training Center.
