BALTIMORE – The Salisbury University women's lacrosse team remains at the top of the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll and the Lacrosse Magazine ranking, the organizations announced Monday, after starting the 2014 season with a 3-0 record.
The No. 1 Sea Gulls were a unanimous pick for the top spot, receiving all 400 first-place votes in the IWLCA poll. SU played one game this past week, defeating Catholic University of America, 17-9, at Sea Gull Stadium on Saturday. Through three games, the Gulls have recorded 42 goals and only allowed 17.
The top five in both rankings remain the same; the only change is Middlebury College jumping the State University of New York at Cortland in the IWLCA poll for the No. 3 spot. Coming in at No. 2 in both polls is Trinity (Conn.) College, while Franklin & Marshall University closes out the top five.
The women are back in action on Saturday, March 8, against Washington and Lee University, as they look to collect win number 400 in program history. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m. at Sea Gull Stadium.
