BALTIMORE — Following a season-opening 17-2 win over Roanoke College, the Salisbury University women's lacrosse team remains at No. 1 in this week's Lacrosse Magazine Top 20 national rankings, the publication announced Monday.
Only two teams in the preseasons top 20 have played so far, the Sea Gulls and new Capital Athletic Conference member Christopher Newport University.
With the remaining teams not having played their first game of the season, the top five teams have remained the same for this week. The top five in the preseason poll, behind Salisbury, is the State University of New York at Cortland in second followed by Trinity (Conn.) College, Middlebury College and Franklin & Marshall College, respectively.
The Sea Gulls will travel to No. 19 Stevenson University on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. The women's lacrosse team will return to Sea Gull Stadium on Saturday, March 1, hosting the Catholic University of America; the game will begin at 1 p.m.
