GRAND LAKE, Colo. – The Salisbury University women's lacrosse team remains the No. 2 team in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Top 20 poll, the organization announced Tuesday. The Sea Gulls continue to edge closer to the top spot in the rankings, and sit behind No. 1 Trinity (Conn.) College by the slimmest of margins.
Following a convincing 13-7 win over then-No. 8 Franklin & Marshall College this past Sunday, the Sea Gulls (7-0) picked up another first-place vote this week, giving the team eight first-place votes this week and 388 points overall.
For the sixth-consecutive poll, Trinity (Conn.) College (5-0) remains at No. 1, but the Bantams lead dwindled again this week. Trinity held onto 12 first-place votes and are two points ahead of the Sea Gulls in the poll.
Sitting behind the Sea Gulls again this week is the State University of New York at Cortland (6-1), with 343 points. Drawing 12 points closer to the Red Dragons is No. 4 Middlebury College (4-0).
Rounding out the top-five again this week is Gettysburg College (7-0), garnering 331 points.
With the Sea Gulls next opponent, the University of Mary Washington (5-4), dropping out the poll this week, the Capital Athletic Conference is represented by two member institutions. Remianing at No. 10 is York (Pa.) College (7-1), with 212 points.
Salisbury returns home this Saturday, opening its conference schedule against Mary Washington. That game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
