Bollhorst, Wheatley claim CAC women’s lacrosse honors

YORK, Pa. – Salisbury University senior attack Katie Bollhorst and junior goalkeeper Ashton Wheatley have been named CAC Women's Lacrosse Co-Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

The pair led the second-ranked Sea Gulls to a 13-7 win over the No. 3 State University of New York at Cortland, 13-7, and 19-6 win against the College at Brockport.

Bollhorst scored five goals and notched eight assists for 13 points to lead Salisbury (6-0) offensively. Wheatley made 10 saves in each of the wins and had a .606 save percentage. Wheatley and the Salisbury defense held the Red Dragons to nine goals under their season average in the victory on Wednesday.

Bollhortst has 15 goals and a team-leading 19 assists and 34 points in six games this season, while Wheatley is 6-0 with a 6.86 goals-against average and .479 save percentage.

Bollhorst and Wheatley are the third and fourth SU players to collect CAC honors this season as Lauren Feusahrens and Bethany Baer each earned offensive and defensive honors, respectively, on March 4.

Salisbury is back in action on Sunday at Franklin & Marshall College at 1 p.m.
