SU ranked No. 6 in preseason IWLCA poll

GRAND LAKE, Colo. – The Salisbury University women's lacrosse team will start the season ranked No. 6 in the IWLCA (Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association) Preseason Division III Poll, the organization announced on Thursday.

Salisbury (2011: 19-3) received 298 points, ahead of Hamilton College (274), Trinity (Conn.) College (254), Middlebury College (226) and Colby College (213) in the top 10. Gettysburg College is No. 1 with 17 first-place votes and 396 points. The College of New Jersey earned the final three first-place votes and is No. 2 with 365 points.

Capital Athletic Conference foe University of Mary Washington is ranked No. 17 with 51 points.

SU will play eight teams ranked in the preseason poll with games against the State University of New York at Cortland, Franklin & Marshall College, Bowdoin College, Catholic University of America, Washington & Lee University, Elizabethtown College, The College of New Jersey and Mary Washington.

Salisbury, which advanced to the 2011 NCAA quarterfinals, opens the season hosting Roanoke College Feb. 25 at 3 p.m.
