Five SU seniors named ECAC Metro/South Women's Lacrosse All-Stars
CAPE COD, Mass. – The Eastern Colleges
Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its Division III
All-Metro/South All-Star teams recently and five seniors from
the 2010 national champion Salisbury University women's lacrosse
team were named to one of two All-Star teams.
Midfielders Jessica
Chmielewski (Woodbine, Md.) and Beth
Rhodey (Fallston, Md.), as well as attacker Kim
Cudmore (Bel Air, Md.) and defender Jess Glazer
(Ellicott City, Md.), all seniors, were all named to the first
team. Senior defender Sarah
McKinley (Timonium, Md.) was named to the second
team.
Chmielewski played and started all 22 games for the No. 2-ranked Sea Gulls this season. The Woodbine, Md., native finished second on the team in points with 64. Chmielewski scored 32 goals and handed out 32 helpers in her final season of play. Additionally the midfielder caused a team-high 28 turnovers, finished second on the team in ground balls with 31 and won 16 draw controls.
Cudmore played in all 22 games this season with 21 starts as she
led the team in points with 94. The Bel Air, Md., native dished out
a team-high 56 assists and scored 38 goals, including three
game-winning goals this season. Cudmore scooped up 12 ground balls,
won 19 draw controls and caused nine turnovers.
Glazer played and started in 21 contests on defense for the Sea
Gulls this season. The Ellicott City, Md., native scooped up a
team-high 35 ground balls, caused 20 turnovers and won eight draw
controls. Glazer also scored her first collegiate goal in 2010, as
she tallied one goal in a victory over Hood College on Feb. 21.
Rhodey finished third on team in points, with 59, on 44 goals and 15 assists in 2010. The senior midfielder played and started all 22 games for the Sea Gulls. Rhodey won a team-high 43 draw controls, scooped up 22 ground balls and caused 16 turnovers.
McKinley played in all 22 games with 20 starts for the maroon and gold this season. The defender finished second on the team in caused turnovers with 25, scooped up 24 ground balls and won 21 draw controls. The Timonium, Md., native chipped in on the offensive end as she registered two points on one goal and one assist.
Alison Jaeger of The College of New Jersey earned ECAC Metro/South Region Offensive Player of the Year. Nicole Valianti from Rowan University was named the region's Defensive Player of the Year and Kailee Beal from Montclair State University earned Rookie of the Year honors.
