GRAND LAKE, Colo. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) released its All-Regional teams for the 2010 season and the Salisbury University program was awarded with six players, five of them seniors, named to the team in the Chesapeake Region.
Salisbury's selections cover the entire field as attacker Kim Cudmore (Bel Air, Md.), midfielder Beth Rhodey (Fallston, Md.) and defender Sarah McKinley (Timonium, Md.) got the first team nod and midfielder Jessica Chmielewski (Woodbine, Md.), defender Jess Glazer (Ellicott City, Md.) and junior attacker Logan Bilderback (Arnold, Md.) were each named to the second team.
This marks the fourth consecutive year that at least six Sea Gulls have been named to the all-regional teams.
This is the third year being named all-region for Rhodey, her second first-team award, who is currently second on the team in goals (41), and leads the team in draw controls won (41). This is the second year in a row that McKinley has been named to the first team. She has been part of one of the top defenses in the country this year, holding opponents to just 7.26 goals per game (ranked second in the nation). Cudmore, who leads the team in assists (50) and points (85) has been named all-region for the first time in her career.
Glazer, who leads the Sea Gulls in groundballs (33), earned her third consecutive second-team award. Chmielewski was a first-team member in 2008 and has had an outstanding season on both ends of the field. She is tied for third on the team in points (54) and leads the squad in caused turnovers (25). The second-team selection is the first for Bilderback who leads Salisbury in goals scored with 47.
The Sea Gulls will look to add to their recognition this weekend with the highest team honor as they look for the program's first national championship. Salisbury will take on Gettysburg College in the national semifinals on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., at Gettysburg College. The winner will move on to the national title game on Sunday at noon against the winner of Saturday's other semifinal game between Franklin & Marshall College and Hamilton College.
