Salisbury's road game at Randolph-Macon canceled, next up No. 1 Hamilton

SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury University women's lacrosse game at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va., scheduled for Saturday, March 14, has been canceled due to poor field conditions. The non-conference game will not be made up.

Second-ranked Salisbury (7-0) will next travel to Texas and prepare for its highly anticipated No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup with defending national champion Hamilton College. The top-ranked Continentals (2-0) and Sea Gulls will meet in San Antonio on Wednesday, March 18, at Noon. Salisbury and Hamilton met in the NCAA national semifinals last season where the Continentals held off the Sea Gulls in the closing minutes to win 11-10. The neutral site game will be held at Trinity University. SU has won 29 consecutive regular-season games since 2007.

This is the third straight year the Sea Gulls have played in a No. 1 vs. No. 2 game. Last year, the Sea Gulls defeated the 2007 national champions Franklin & Marshall 9-7 at home. The Diplomats were the top-ranked team and SU was ranked No. 2. Two weeks later, the top-ranked Sea Gulls defeated new No. 2 The College of New Jersey 11-10 on the road. At the end of the 2007 season both SU and F&M met in the national title game in another No. 1 vs. No. 2 game. The No. 1 Diplomats won that game 11-8 to claim their first-ever national championship.
