Cudmore, Winter named ECAC Division III South Region Players of the Week

CENTREVILLE, Mass. - Two Salisbury University lacrosse players have been named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) weekly players of the week. Junior attackers Mike Winter and Kim Cudmore have been named Division III South Region Offensive Players of the Week. This is the first ECAC award this season for both programs.

Winter receives this honor after he helped lead No. 1 Salisbury to a 2-0 record last week. He was outstanding for SU as he notched 10 points on nine goals and one assist in the Sea Gulls' two victories. The Port Washington, N.Y., product scooped up seven ground balls and caused three turnovers. Winter tallied his fourth game this season with at least four goals with a four goal, one assist effort in SU's victory over Eastern Connecticut State University on March 21. On March 17, he notched five goals in Salisbury's triumph over Colorado College in Florida. Winter leads SU in man-up goals (six), is second in goals (28) and is third in points (33).

Cudmore helped No. 2 Salisbury to a 2-0 record last week, including a 12-9 victory over defending NCAA Division III national champion Hamilton College. For the week, the junior poured in seven goals, seven assists and scooped up seven ground balls. She paced Salisbury with one goal and two assists in its 12-9 win over top-ranked Hamilton on March 18. The Bel Air, Md., native then posted a career-high 11 points on six goals and five assists in SU's 23-13 victory over Roanoke on the road on March 21. In the victory over the Maroons, her goal, assist and point totals were the highest for any Sea Gull this season. She leads SU on the season in points (55), goals (18) and assists (24).

This ends an amazing week for Salisbury University athletics as Sea Gulls have won numerous national, regional and conference player of the week awards. Six Sea Gull student-athletes received recognition for their play on the field taking home 11 different awards. Beth Rhodey (women's lacrosse) and Kelsey Mills (softball) were named national players of the week in their respective sports. Rhodey was named Division III Nike/Inside Lacrosse National Player of the Week and Mills was awarded Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Player of the Week. Track and Field athlete Delannie Spriggs, Winter, Cudmore and Mills were named ECAC Players of the Week for their respective sports. Women's tennis athlete Rachel Iosue, Cudmore, Mills, and Spriggs were all named Capital Athletic Conference Players of the Week for the week ending March 22.
